Curcumin is a biologically active phytochemical component in turmeric, which has a variety of pharmacological effects and may be beneficial to the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
PCOS patients received curcumin (500 mg three times a day) or placebo for 12 weeks.
As a result, 67 of the 72 randomized subjects completed the trial.
In summary, the results of the study indicate that curcumin may be a safe and useful supplement that can improve PCOS-related hyperandrogenism and hyperglycemia.
