paper introduces a surface treatment method to create a hybrid nanostructure additive to promote the weather resistance and corrosion resistance of epoxy coatings

    .
in this method, graphene oxide platelets are synthesized and further modified with zirconium salts through in-place processes to grow zirconium dioxide nanoparticles on graphene oxide nanoplates. Synthetic hybrid compounds are fully represented using XPS, FE-SEM, HR-TEM, Raman, XRD, UV-vis spectroscopy. Finally, the modified nano-sheets of radon dioxide are mixed into epoxy coatings and exposed to accelerated weathering and corrosion conditions.
    Proditation and weathering protection
Based on all test results, load-modified graphene epoxy coatings achieve the highest levels of corrosion and weather protection due to its versatile barrier against UV/moisture/free fundamentals.
the study was published in November 2019 in issue 136 of Organic Coatings Progress.
