    A spokesperson for the center said: "In response to reports that a number of Taiwanese eight immortals contained additives, the center stepped up spot checks on similar products on the market and took samples of the above eight immortals from three different retail locations for testing.

    He continued: "The center has known the merchants involved in the above violations, and found that all the merchants have stopped selling the products of the problematic batch.
If there is sufficient evidence, the center will prosecute.
The center has also notified the distribution of the relevant products.
The company will track down the distribution of the relevant products, and will notify the industry of the relevant incident and request the suspension of the sale of the relevant products.
The center will also notify the relevant Taiwan authorities of the incident.

    The spokesman called on the industry to abide by the relevant legal requirements.
According to the Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) Regulations (Chapter 132W), prepackaged food sold in Hong Kong should list the ingredients of the food in detail on the ingredient list.
Violation of the above regulations, upon conviction, can be fined up to 50,000 yuan and imprisoned for six months.
